Twisting Wires
Twist wire to create texture and add body to the wire so that it supports the weight of a bead or holds its shape better. Twisted wire is easy to curve or coil as it is less likely to kink than single wire. It also looks more delicate than using a thicker craft wire and, as a result, is a popular technique for making tiaras and wedding accessories.
Twisting Wires
Twisting Wires stage 1
1. Use a bead to give you leverage for twisting the wire. Hold the bead between your finger and thumb and roll it round and round until the wire is evenly twisted along its length.
Twisting Wires stage 2
2. Rather than making a single twist, create short branches by only twisting for a short length and then adding a bead to one tail and twisting to make the branch. Add other branches as required.
Twisting Wires stage 3
3. If you are using thicker wire and find it easier to twist the wire rather than the bead, splay the wires out at right angles so that you can exert a more even pressure to make a neater twist.
