Embossing with Rubber Stamps
1.1 Using either a pigment or an embossing inkpad, ink your stamp design and print it onto paper. Sprinkle the embossing powder over the inked image while it is still wet. The embossing powder will stick to the areas of the paper that have been printed. Make sure that there is an even covering of powder.
2.Shake off the excess embossing powder onto a spare piece of paper. This powder can then be returned to the container and used again. Tap the printed paper gently to remove any specks of powder – if these are left, they will melt onto the paper. Use a fine paintbrush to remove any traces.
3.Holding the printed paper in one hand with a wooden peg, with the other hand, direct the heat gun onto the image, keeping it 15–20cm (6–8in) away from the paper. Watch the embossing powder melt to a semi-liquid form, then remove the heat gun and switch off. If the powder is over-heated, the image will not be glossy. The image can be left as it is or coloured in using any medium of your choice (see page 100).
