Essentials of Tea Bag Folding
Techniques courtesy of The Papercrafter's Bible
Before you begin, read through these important rules for perfect tea bag folding, and bear them in mind as you practise.
- The paper squares must be exactly the same size to begin with, otherwise any small discrepancy will become apparent in the end result.
- All folds must be crisp and precise – any uneven or bumpy folds will show up.
- If you are a beginner, start with large squares, then decrease the size of the squares as you grow in confidence.
- Once folded, the squares must be carefully assembled and glued together, otherwise the resulting rosette shape will be uneven.
Essentials of Tea Bag Folding
1. With right sides facing, fold a square of paper in half.
2. Open out and, with wrong sides facing (i.e. with the pattern on the outside), fold in half diagonally.
3. Open out and, again with wrong sides facing, fold in half along the other diagonal.
4. You will find that the square starts to take shape, so place your two forefingers into the first horizontal fold you made and push them together. The paper folds inwards and a triangle is created.
